In Greek at each level of education there is a specific term to describe the person who teaches at that level.  This is not true for English.  Compare the following citations from the Bank of English.

Notice especially that professor is generally not a good translation of καθηγητής, since it is not used as
a generic term for someone who teaches at University level, but is a specific rank in a university hierarchy.
As we see above, teacher also collocates with the γνωστικό αντικείμενο, the subject being taught.  Here are some
