ASSIROS: THE BRONZE AGE PHASES 7-6 c 1200-1100 BC

(see new dates for these phases: June 2004)

Rooms 6 -9 with Street 10 beyond

The substantial mud brick walls of these phases are well preserved and the plan of the settlement is clear.

Three parallel streets separate blocks of rooms and open spaces with a perimeter wall around the complex at the edge of the mound.

Storage facilities - pithoi, clay bins and baskets are scattered rather than concentrated and suggest storage on a family rather than communal scale.

Debris was allowed to accumulate in streets and open yard areas (shown dotted) while the interiors were kept clean.
