ASSIROS: THE BRONZE AGE PHASES 7-6 c 1200-1100 BC
(see new dates for these phases: June 2004)
Rooms 6 -9 with Street 10 beyond
![]() |
The substantial mud brick walls of these phases are well preserved and the plan of the settlement is clear. Three parallel streets separate blocks of rooms and open spaces with a perimeter wall around the complex at the edge of the mound. Storage facilities - pithoi, clay bins and baskets are scattered rather than concentrated and suggest storage on a family rather than communal scale. Debris was allowed to accumulate in streets and open yard areas (shown dotted) while the interiors were kept clean. |
